A draft revegetation plan for Aldinga Washpool & Blue Lagoon and surrounding areas has been developed. The plan has been informed by detailed botanical and ecological assessments that provided up-to-date data on vegetation types and locations of significant species in the area.
The proposed planting site consists of several land parcels owned by a number of state and local government bodies and historically has been used for many purposes. The aim of the draft plan is to guide pest plant control and revegetation works that will restore and maintain the health of the site.
The proposed revegetation aims to reflect the natural open character of the coastal wetland, including low sedge and saltmarsh plantings, tussock grasslands, dune and coastal heathland and shrubland. Some open woodland tree plantings similar to the adjacent Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park are also proposed.
